D.I.Y Mexican Spice Mix

If you're like me, you love Mexican food. But when you buy the kits at the supermarket it can cost upwards of £3 for what is basically some spices and tortilla wraps.

Although making this spice mix will probably cost you about the same it will make about 8 meals so the savings are huge in the long run.

You will need:

2 tablespoons cumin
2 tablespoons paprika
2 tablespoons oregano
2 tablespoons cayenne pepper
2 tablespoons - chilli powder
1 tablespoon - garlic powder

These will also come in handy for various dishes so it's not like you'll never use them again.

So, when buying herbs and spices I get everything I can at Aldi, the cumin, paprika, oregano and chilli powder were all 49p each. The garlic granules cost 58p and the cayenne cost 78p both of which are from Asda. That gives us a total of £3.32.

So let's get on to how we make this wonderful concoction.

You will also need the following:

An airtight container and a table spoon.

Once you have everything you need at hand add all the herbs and spices to the container.

Once you have added all the ingredients to the tub pop on the lid and give it good shake until it's well combined.

It should look like this

Now all you need to do is add two or three teaspoons to anything you want to add a little Mexican flavour.

I'll be using this in a future post so this is basically a head start.

Let me know what you think of this spice mix in the comments.

Enjoy.
